How to choose and use deep cycle AGM batteries?
2023-10-26
Most car batteries are dry-charged batteries. The advantage is that it does not charge after adding electrolytes, and it can be started after 30 to 40 minutes. Some car owners do not understand its working principle and cannot maintain it, which greatly shortens the deep cycle AGM battery life.

How to choose a deep cycle AGM battery?
When buying a deep cycle AGM battery, read the letters on it. Anything with the QA letter is a dry-charged deep cycle AGM battery. 2. Shake the electrolyte evenly and add it to the deep cycle AGM battery. Please wear gloves during operation, and be careful not to spill the electrolyte on your hands or clothes. 3. For batteries without a marking line, the electrolyte should be 10 to 15 mm higher than the plate; for batteries with two red lines, the electrolyte must not exceed the upper red line. Some people think that the more electrolyte, the greater the electricity. This is an extremely wrong idea. When the car is running at high speed, the generator output voltage is greater than the deep cycle AGM battery voltage, and the deep cycle AGM battery starts to be charged. When charging, the electrolyte volume expands, and if the electrolyte is too full, it will overflow from the small hole on the deep cycle AGM battery cover. The electrolyte conducts electricity, and once it flows between the positive and negative poles of the deep cycle AGM battery, it will form a self-discharge loop. Not only can the car not start, but the life of the deep cycle AGM battery will be greatly shortened. In this case, wipe off the electrolyte with a cotton cloth in time, or rinse with boiling water.

How to use the deep cycle AGM battery?
Don‘t let other objects fall into the deep cycle AGM battery when adding electrolytes. If something falls in accidentally, do not use metal materials to fish out, use wooden rods to clamp out impurities. If you use iron or copper wire to fish out, metal molecules will enter the deep cycle AGM battery under the corrosion of sulfuric acid to form self-discharge and damage the deep cycle AGM battery. 2. Regularly check whether the small holes on the deep cycle AGM battery cover are ventilated. If the small holes are blocked, the generated gas cannot be discharged, and the deep cycle AGM battery casing will be broken when the electrolyte expands, thereby reducing the deep cycle AGM battery life. 3. Check the liquid level of the electrolyte regularly, and add the electrolyte in time when the liquid level drops. 4. If the vehicle is left unused for a long time, you need to start the vehicle every 25 days and run it at a medium speed for about 20 minutes. Otherwise, the car will be left for too long and it will be difficult to start. 5. When removing the deep cycle AGM battery from the car, first remove the negative electrode and then the positive electrode. The opposite is true when installing. 6. Don‘t just replace the car with a deep cycle AGM battery with a larger capacity than the original deep cycle AGM battery. Because the power generation of car generators is fixed.
